OUR INSTRUCTORS
The Shotokan Karate Club of Maryland has a tradition of exceptional instruction. In fact, it is not uncommon to have visitors from out of the country come train with us because of Sensei Amin's reputation!
Since the club is a non-profit entity, all instructors volunteer their time to teach the students.
SHIHAN NAJIB AMIN
Chief Instructor, 8th dan
Shihan Najib Amin has been training since the early 1960s, and is still training today. He is a direct student of Grand Master Teruyuki Okazaki, and was in the very first ISKF instructor trainee class in 1975. Sensei has dedicated his life to promoting character through the art of karate-do. He is a member of the ISKF Shihankai and earned the rank of 8th dan in 2009 from Grand Master Teruyuki Okazaki. See his interview here.
FARID AMIN
Senior Instructor, 7th dan
Farid began his training in 1963 at the age of 5 because of his father's influence. During his time in medical school he trained under the direct supervision of Grand Master Teruyuki Okazaki. Farid has extensive experience in training, competing, teaching, and mentoring new students. His passion for training comes from his seniors who are still encouraging him to develop his personal training as well as that of others.
